Visual Art Class Description

Mosaic uses visual arts to identify with students intrapersonal and interpersonal social emotionsskills. We incorporate culturally responsive visual art projects for family engagement events to display how emotions are shown and felt in one’s body as an individual and group. The art
classes offered are to promote technique while valuing oneself, to promote teamwork, cooperation and provide opportunities for relationship developing skills and cultural social awareness to empower both boys and girls to express an array of potential hidden emotions. Students will be given tools to be expected to be able to participate in giving ideas and self-managing to bolster self-esteem and learn the values of others while being provided the opportunity for esthetic exposure with opportunities to promote parent and family participation.

Just the Beginning: Introduction and Fundamentals to Theatre Ages 3-6

This is a class designed for the young artist to be creative while exploring materials and techniques. In this class children will be able to create their own masterpieces using and learning about different paints, crafts, lines, shapes, space, value, form, texture, and color practices while practicing fine motor skills and physical and emotional development while practicing fine motor skills.

* Students will participate in a children’s art show at the end of each quarter to display and share their art. 

Drawing and Painting Art II ages 10+

This class is open to children who love art and are ready to build their portfolio while practicing self-expression. In this class children will receive more hands-on time to develop their skills and experiment with different techniques. As well as provide a foundation for advanced classes to come. This class will also touch on drawing on flat and two-dimensional surfaces and using natural materials while expressing their own concepts, ideas, and feelings as a group or individual to encourage self-expression, communication and cultural self and social awareness.


* Students will participate in a children’s art show at the end of each quarter to display and share their art.

3D Art and Natural Materials ages 7+

In this class children will have more access to materials such as rocks, marbles, beads, wood, metal, leather, plastic, stone, glass, liquid, tile, miscellaneous. In this class children will receive more hands-on time to develop their skills and experiment with different techniques. As well as provide a foundation for advanced classes to come. Through our art activities, children can learn problem solving, effective communication when working collaboratively, divergent thinking and will develop a sense of aesthetics to accommodate their freedom of expression, exploration of concepts, ideas, and feelings. Refining and
completing a work of art to be displayed.

Stage Design Props and Scenic Art Ages 10+

In this class students will be able to display their love and knowledge of art. Students will be able to utilize all of their ideas and skills previously learned to bring unique architectural designs for the stage. In this class children will receive more hands-on time to develop their skills and experiment with different techniques as well as have complete access to all materials to bring their stage design to life including lumber. As well as provide a foundation for advanced classes to come. While developing their
own concept children can learn problem solving, effective communication when working collaboratively, divergent thinking and will develop a sense of aesthetics to accommodate their freedom of expression individually and in a group setting, exploration of concepts, ideas, and feelings.


*Safety First – Below learning tools must be performed and monitored by an adult professional at all times. Students will be introduced to the process of designing physical environments for the stage. You’ll learn to draft simple ground plans and elevations, to create color renderings, and to build simple models. You will also explore principles of design: line, shape, form, color, contrast, balance and symmetry, proportion, and texture.


The fundamentals of scenic construction are explored. You’ll examine and work with a variety of building materials and tools,
but especially with lumber. Sound structural techniques are presented. You’ll work on creating scenery for current productions
as well as special projects.
